Faith Formation for Children

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION AND PREPARATION FOR SACRAMENTS

FAITH FORMATION FOR CHILDREN is the religious education of our children.

Faith Formation is part of our structured program which prepares our youth for reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, First Holy Eucharist, Confirmation; and guides all towards a deeper understanding of their faith.  A variety of programs, community service projects and gatherings are hosted for children, teens and their families to increase awareness of church precepts, teachings and help all individuals to strengthen their relationship with God.

Children meet on either Sundays or Tuesdays. Each class is approximately 15 - 20 children and facilitated by a trained catechist. Supporting our catechists are classroom aides and hall monitors. The program is guided overall by the Coordinator of Faith Formation.

Youth and teens that are seeking to become Catholic or to receive Sacraments of Initiation—Baptism, Holy Eucharist, Confirmation—should have their parents or guardians contact the Faith Formation Office for information about a special program geared for older children known as Rite of Initiation for Teens here at our parish.

Gatherings of parents and guardians of all our children are a special part of our Faith Formation programs. Faith Conversations, Faith Matters and other sessions are designed specifically for adults and held in the evenings periodically throughout the formation year (September thru May). These gatherings support adults in their important role in the home--helping our children and families in their faith formation.

Occassionally, a class, event or program may be cancelled or postponed due to inclement weather or circumstances beyond our control. Notice will be listed in Welcome Page Headlines & this page

Below are just some highlights:

Focus for Year –

There are many activities, projects and happenings scheduled encouraging the entire family to be involved together in experiencing a rich spiritual life. Participation in family prayer and diversified programs hosted throughout the year support our families.

Faith Formation Calendar – A resource for all families and their children providing classroom schedules, information on holy days, special activities dates and other important facts for the family.

Catechetical Study Book – A tool for each child and teen participating in Faith Formation program geared to their specific age and studies. In addition, children receive other resource materials and tools throughout the year to help them deepen their relationship with God.

Family Parish Events & Faith Formation Activities – Formation is beyond the classroom and the home. Our younger parishioners, our children and teens, are encouraged to strengthen their sense of belonging; and along with family we invite all to participate in special spiritual and liturgical events and opportunities.

Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament: Beyond the class setting, participate as a family in Silent Prayer in Adoration Chapel; the family decides when to visit and for how long to prayer together in silent prayer. Read More.
